Whether designing clothing, his Knightsbridge shop, Covent Garden apartment or a perfume bottle Jacques Azagury – British fashion designer who specialises in red carpet ‘pret-a-couture’ dressing some of of the most glamorous women in the world – approaches all of the projects with the same philosophy. He believes that a design ideal is symbiotic in many different aspects and he carries his ideals of clean, pure, unfussy lines to whatever he designs.
Before designing his six new scents Jacques designed the bottle which was to house them. He was looking to reflect the grand yet modern feel that he idealises when designing his fashion collection. For this reason he chose crystal as the ultimate material to use for the bottle. Clean, clear, linear reflecting lines make up the design so as not to interfere or compete with the juice it will withhold.
Jacques decided to colour code the scents believing that giving them a name would in advance predetermine the wearer of what to expect thus taking away part of of the initial mystery. To carry the modern minimalistic look to otherwise classic material such as crystal Jacques has added a coloured ring to the bottle to identify each scent.
Each scent was meticulously designed to represent Jacques’ vision of each of the six colours. Each scent had to be totally new not smelling like anything he had smelled before. And the sometimes untraditional combinations of ingredients eventually achieved what he was looking for.
Even though there are six different colours and flavours there is definitely a signature running through in the way a runway fashion collection would be constructed. But unlike a fashion collection these six scents are timeless.
