The heart of Milan once more abounds with autumnal colours and the flavours and aromas of the best of Italian and international fine wines. This is La Vendemmia, the annual event that transforms Via MonteNapoleone, via Sant’Andrea, Via Verri, Via Bagutta, Via Borgospesso and Via Santo Spirito and offers delightful, sensory experiences…

For an entire week, from Monday 9 October to Sunday 15, style and savoir faire come together, with associated fashion brands ready to pair prestigious names in wine with their products.  The event is promoted by MonteNapoleone District in partnership with the Comitato Grandi Cru d’Italia, formed in 2005 to protect and promote the prestige of Italian wine producers. This exclusive event also gives the public the chance to try some of Milan’s most renowned restaurants at a special price with a “La Vendemmia” menu paired with a glass of red or white wine or bubbly. Luxury 5 star hotels organize special food and wine events such as specially designed menus, vertical tastings, personal meetings with sommeliers and exclusive wine experiences, and offer special packages that include a VIP Pass to access events in the programme. There will, of course, be no lack of opportunity to enjoy the Shopping Experience offered by the MonteNapoleone District boutiques, which gives access to exclusive services such as a dedicated sales assistant, delivery of purchases to one’s hotel or home, or after-hours openings on request. One of the most eagerly-awaited events of La Vendemmia is the charity auction by Christie’s in support of the non-profit Dynamo Camp to be held on Thursday, 12 October at Palazzo Bovara, where as well as special vintage and collectors’ fine wines, participants can bid on dinners at award-winning restaurants and stays in private winery accommodation with tailor-made guided tours and tastings.  The highly-rated Wine Tasting of labels selected by the Comitato Grandi Cru will be held on Friday 13 October in the splendid setting of Palazzo Serbelloni. From 16 to 22 October, La Vendemmia will make its debut in Rome, and subsequently be exported to Shanghai to make its contribution to the promotion of Italian wine around the world.
