Tiffany & Co. hosts an art exhibition in Rome, The Female Portrait: Photography by American Women, featuring the works of modern artists who were pioneers in the field of photography. On view from 2016, May 13 through May 29, the installation showcases life interwoven with history through portraits that are expressions of domesticity and sensuality.
The exhibition features a range of works by such photographers as Diane Arbus, Margaret Bourke White, Imogen Cunningham, Linda McCartney, Sheila Metzner, Judy Dater, Doris Ulmann, Dorothea Lange, Annie Leibovitz, Lisette Model, Eve Arnold, Mona Kuhn, Cindy Sherman, Nan Goldin, Florence Henry, Lee Mille, Vivian Maier. While their medium was photography, these women are also considered exceptional artists who broke boundaries in a male-dominated field and whose images captured a unique view of the female figure in the modern age.
Since the company’s founding, Tiffany has been at the forefront of supporting cultural experiences that create meaningful conversations and bring new ideas in art, design and popular culture. Curated by Denis Curti, this exhibition brings together Tiffany’s cultural mission and spirit of innovation on a global scale.
