I t won’t be available at dealers until September but this new Tucson promises to have all it takes to face the competition coming from both the Old Continent and the rest of the world.
It will replace the very successful Ix35, which, together with the Sportage model by Kia, has been dominating the middle-size Suv market in Europe. The whole line has been completely redesigned on a new and unreleased platform (the one of the new Sorento), high quality materials and Premium assembly, all mixed in cocktail featuring elastic engines and competitive prices: these are the trumps of the new Tucson.
The lines, both front and rear, have been fully redesigned (the resemblance with the its older sister, Santa Fe, is now very noticeable), inter-axis distance and length have been both increased, up to 14’7’’ for the latter; this will enable an upgrade in the “quality of life” in the interior.
The widows line is quite high, fact which makes the vehicle look sleeker and more aggressive compared to its former version.
The engines options did not vary much, with diesels featuring 1,700 and 2,000cc and in the class from 115 hp to 184 hp; all the engines are Euro 6 and a new 1,600 turbo petrol model with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is joining the array.
Available optional and prices are not yet officially out but they are expected to align around 30,000 euros for the European market.
