Form and Desire. The Cal - Collection Pirelli

From November 21, 2014 to February 22, 2015, Palazzo Reale in Milan is hosting the exhibition “Form and Desire. The Cal – Pirelli Collection “which features a selection of 200 photographs from the Pirelli calendars from birth to the present.

The exhibition – curated by Walter Guadagnini and M. Amedeo Turello , sponsored by the City of Milan under the patronage of Culture Expo is organized and produced by the Royal Palace and GAmm Couplings – born thanks to the fundamental contribution of Pirelli, for selection exhibition, has made available its archive with thousands of photos of the greatest photographers in the world.

He became quickly an object of worship, the Calendar for over fifty years interprets the social and cultural changes and advances trends of the new mode, through the watchful eye of the most celebrated contemporary authors, Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts, Peter Lindberg Bruce Weber, Peter Beard Steve McCurry, Patrick Demarchelier and Steven Meisel.

with a narrative that goes beyond the chronological typical calendar itself, the gallery of “Form and Desire “offers a thematic itinerary, following a process that explores and combines relations, analogies, quotes and contrasts between images of more than half a century. The exhibition is spread across five rooms, each dedicated to the elements that are common to the photos in space: the seduction of provocation, myth and elegance.
